Etihad Stadium is a mutlti-use stadium that is located in the Docklands area of Melbourne, Australia and open in the year 2000. Due to its location, the stadium is also called Docklands Stadium. Etihad Stadium is the home of the Australian Football League and is the home stadium for several teams in the league. The Australian Football League teams that call Etihad Stadium home include the Carlton Blues, Essendon Bombers, North Melbourne Kangaroos, St Kilda Saints and the Western Bulldogs. The stadium also houses other sports and big entertainment events including soccer matches and concerts.

Etihad Stadium has a capacity of just over 56000 people, and is owned by James Fielding Funds Management. Etihad stadium is one of the nicest stadiums found in Australia. The stadium cost around $460 million to build and has several modern features not found in other stadiums. A retractable roof that opens and closes in minutes allows for a great weather in the stadium at all times. Several sections of the seats can be moved to accommodate for multiple sporting events. Etihad stadium also features two large LCD high definition video screens that display the action and highlights at all times, which allows everyone to have a great view of the game.

Towards the end of 1996 it was announced that the Australian Football League would be moving its headquarters to Etihad Stadium from Waverly Park. Just over 43000 people showed up to watch the first match in the stadiums history between the Essendon Bombers and the Port Adelaide Crows.

Despite being a sports and entertainment stadium, the largest crowd that has ever attended an event at Etihad Stadium occurred at the Catholic Jubilee Mass in November of 2000. The crowd of 70000 people are estimated to have attended the Mass. The Robbie Williams concert in 2006 and a World Wrestling Entertainment event have the highest attendance for a concert and sports event in the history of Etihad stadium. Just over 64000 people attended the concert of the British singer, and 56000 people showed up to watch WWE Global Warming on August 10th of 2002.
